Lawn Care & Mowing

Everything for a lawn that has to survive a Canadian winter and green up fast in May: push, cordless and robotic mowers, string trimmers and edgers, broadcast and drop spreaders, cool-season grass seed (Kentucky bluegrass, perennial rye and fine fescue mixes), fertilizer and lime, aerators, dethatchers and repair patches. Our lawns are cool-season lawns, so the products and the timing here are written for that, not for a Florida yard.

What to look for: seed blends that name the species and the germination rate on the bag, not just “sun and shade”; a spreader with settings that match the bag you buy; fertilizer with a slow-release nitrogen share for spring and a fall formula for the September feed that matters most; and a cordless mower with a battery rated for your lawn size in square metres. Most municipalities ban cosmetic pesticides, so weed control here is mostly cultural: mow high, overseed thick, feed in fall.
