Which onion varieties are included and what makes each one useful?

This pack includes Parade Green Onion, White Ishikura Green Onion, Walla Walla Yellow Onion, Utah Yellow Sweet Spanish, Gladstone Onion, and Red Geneva. Varieties were selected to provide a mix of fast-harvest scallions, classic sweet bulbing onions, and colorful red onions for versatility in the kitchen.

• Parade Green Onion — quick-maturing scallion for continuous harvests.
• White Ishikura — tender white scallions with mild flavor for raw use.
• Walla Walla Yellow — famed sweet slicing onion for burgers and salads.
• Utah Yellow Sweet Spanish — large sweet bulbs ideal for roasting and storage.
• Gladstone — reliable garden performer with balanced flavor.
• Red Geneva — vivid color and firm texture for pickling and salads.

How should I start these seeds indoors or plant them outside?

All six varieties can be started indoors to get a jump on the season, or sown directly into garden beds where climate and soil permit. Follow simple depth and spacing guidelines on each packet to optimize germination and reduce thinning later.

• Indoor starts: sow shallowly in seed trays, keep moist and bright, transplant when seedlings have strong roots.
• Outdoor sowing: direct sow to recommended spacing once soil can be worked and temperatures are suitable.
• Soil needs: loose, well-draining soil with moderate fertility; amend if compacted or low in organic matter.
• Watering: consistent moisture during germination, then regular but not waterlogged conditions as bulbs form.

What can I expect from germination and seed freshness for the 2026 season?

These seeds are labeled for the 2026 season to indicate recent harvesting and packing, which helps support strong germination rates when stored and used properly. Each packet lists sowing instructions and best-practice tips to encourage even emergence.

• 2026-season seeds: packed for current-season freshness and higher viability.
• Storage advice: keep cool, dry, and sealed using the reusable zipper packaging.
• Planting timing: follows variety-specific cold- or warm-season recommendations printed on the packet.
