Schoen Farms Striped Sunflower Seeds 10 lb Bag — Jumbo Kernels, High‑Energy Bird Food for Cardinals & Jays

Schoen Farms Striped Sunflower Seeds are a premium 10 lb bag of jumbo striped sunflower seed designed to attract larger, colorful wild birds like cardinals, blue jays, and grosbeaks.

These cleaned, high-energy seeds offer backyard birders a reliable way to invite striking species to feeders and platforms. The larger kernel size and thicker shells favor bigger-beaked birds while reducing visits from smaller, nuisance species. Whether you use hopper feeders, tray feeders, or scatter on the ground, this 10 lb bag supplies weeks of feeding and supports year-round viewing.

How will this seed blend change what I see at my feeder?

Schoen Farms jumbo striped sunflower seeds are formulated to draw larger, vibrant birds that need high-fat, high-protein food. Because the shells are thicker and kernels larger, smaller sparrows and starlings are discouraged, letting cardinals, jays, grosbeaks, and woodpeckers dominate the feeding station.

• Attracts cardinals, blue jays, grosbeaks, and woodpeckers
• Large kernels preferred by birds with stronger bills
• Reduces visits from smaller, aggressive species
• Visible, colorful birds improve backyard watching

What makes these seeds a nutritious choice for wild birds?

These striped sunflower seeds provide concentrated energy from natural fats and a solid source of protein, useful for daily activity and seasonal needs like migration and nesting. The product is cleaned to remove dust and debris, so birds receive fresh, quality kernels without fillers.

• High-fat content supplies quick energy
• Protein supports muscle and feather maintenance
• Thoroughly cleaned for minimal dust and waste
• No added fillers—straight sunflower kernels

Which feeders work best with a 10 lb bag of striped sunflower seeds?

These seeds are versatile across common feeder types. Hopper and tube feeders with larger ports, platform and tray feeders, or even ground feeding areas all work well. The thicker shells hold up in windy conditions and during active feeding sessions.

• Hopper feeders: steady dispensing for multiple birds
• Platform/tray feeders: open access for larger species
• Ground feeding: attracts ground-foraging birds and woodpeckers
• Large-port tube feeders: prevents clogging and allows bigger bills

How long will a 10 lb bag last and how should I store it?

Duration depends on feeder traffic and bird variety; a moderate backyard with frequent visitors may go through the bag in several weeks, while light use can last months. Store unused seed in a cool, dry place in a sealed container to preserve freshness and deter pests.

• Typical backyard: several weeks to a few months of supply
• Keep in airtight containers to maintain freshness
• Store indoors or in shaded dry areas to avoid moisture
• Rotate stock to use older seed first
