Rain Bird Gear-Drive Rotor Sprinkler 26–38 ft Coverage — Metal Spike, Full/Part-Circle Adjustable Arc

The Rain Bird 42SASPG is a heavy-duty gear-driven rotor sprinkler on a powder-coated metal spike that delivers adjustable 26–38 ft coverage and 40°–360° spray patterns for reliable lawn and garden watering.

Built to bring professional-grade irrigation performance to any hose-end location, the 42SASPG combines Rain Bird's Rain Curtain nozzle technology, micro-ramps, and a water-lubricated gear drive in a durable metal-spike design. It installs in seconds on a standard garden hose and is tuned at the top of the rotor with a screwdriver while running, making it a flexible choice for larger lawns, gardens, and landscape areas that need uniform coverage with minimal waste.

How does the 42SASPG produce even coverage without wasting water?

The sprinkler uses a patented Rain Curtain nozzle that creates a steady rotating sheet of large, wind-resistant droplets for targeted delivery. Micro-ramps push part of the spray close to the head so turf next to the sprinkler isn't left dry. Together these features improve uniformity and reduce run time for greener areas with less water.

• Rain Curtain nozzle for consistent rotating spray
• Micro-ramps minimize dry rings and brown spots
• Gear-driven rotation for smooth, even distribution

What spray distances and pattern adjustments are possible?

The 42SASPG adjusts spray distance from roughly 26 to 38 feet (typical at 45–55 psi) and offers a pattern range between 40° and 360°. It ships preset at 180° but can be set to part-circle or full-circle, and you can fine-tune distance and arc at the top with a flat-blade screwdriver while it runs.

• Adjustable distance: 26'–38' under normal residential pressure
• Adjustable arc: 40°–360°, preset to 180°
• Top-access adjustments for on-the-fly tuning without disassembly

Is the 42SASPG durable and compatible with my hose?

This rotor features a water-lubricated gear drive with extra seals to resist grit and hard water, plus a heavy-duty powder-coated metal stake for stable placement. The inlet is a 3/4" female threaded hose connection (FHT), matching standard garden hoses for easy hookup.

• Robust metal spike with powder-coat finish for long life
• Water-lubricated gears and additional seals for reliability
• 3/4" FHT metal inlet fits standard hoses securely

Can I customize flow or swap nozzles for different water supplies?

The unit ships with a preinstalled 3.0 GPM nozzle but supports interchangeable nozzles to match different flow rates or pressure conditions. Additional Rain Bird nozzles (model 4252NZLPK and others) are sold separately to fine-tune spacing and output for your system.

• Preinstalled 3 GPM nozzle for immediate use
• Optional nozzles available to change flow and throw
• Nozzle swaps are simple and field-serviceable

Who is this for: Homeowners, landscapers, and gardeners who need a portable, high-uniformity rotor for medium-to-large lawn and garden zones will appreciate the Rain Bird 42SASPG. It’s ideal when you want professional sprinkler performance without permanent irrigation plumbing—perfect for rental properties, seasonal watering, trial layouts, or expanding coverage where underground systems aren’t practical.

Note: Spray distances are approximate and based on common residential water pressures of 45–55 PSI. Additional nozzles are available separately to optimize performance for varied pressure and flow conditions.
