Yarbirder Metal Squirrel-Proof Hanging Bird Feeder — 3 lb Capacity, Removable Base & Weatherproof

The Yarbirder Squirrel Proof Metal Bird Feeder is a weatherproof, weight-activated hanging feeder with a removable base that holds up to 3 lbs of seeds and keeps squirrels out while making cleaning simple.

Designed for backyard birdwatchers who want a low-maintenance, durable feeder, this metal bird feeder combines a clear seed window, a sealed top cover, and a weight-sensitive spring mechanism to deter larger pests. The galvanized, rust-resistant construction withstands wet seasons and looks tidy on porches, decks, or near tree branches. Its bottom-fed ports let multiple small birds feed at once without crowding, and the detachable base permits deep cleaning without tools.

How does the squirrel-proof system work?

The feeder uses a weight-activated spring that closes access for heavier animals while remaining open for smaller songbirds. When a squirrel or large rodent lands, the mechanism reduces the opening so they can't reach the seeds. For best performance, hang the feeder where a squirrel cannot jump or climb directly onto it.

• Weight-sensitive spring trips under heavier load to block ports
• Bottom feeding ports favor small birds like finches and cardinals
• Recommended to hang away from nearby branches and ledges

What makes cleaning and seed care easier?

The Yarbirder feeder features a removable base that comes off without tools, allowing you to access the interior for a thorough rinse and dry. Drainage holes in the base and a fully sealed top cover prevent standing water and keep seed dry between refills. A clear viewing window shows seed levels so you know when to top up.

• Tool-free removable base for deep cleaning
• Multiple drainage holes prevent moisture buildup
• Clear window allows quick seed checks and fewer surprises

Which birds will this feeder attract and how does port placement help?

The bottom-fed ports are positioned so several small birds can feed simultaneously without fighting over a single opening. This layout is attractive to species such as finches, chickadees, titmice, and cardinals that prefer stable perches and easy seed access. Because the ports are low, birds can feed naturally and comfortably.

• Bottom ports accommodate multiple small birds at once
• Perches are weight-activated to favor lighter species
• Clear seed visibility helps birds locate food quickly

How durable and weather-resistant is the feeder?

Constructed from rust-resistant metal and finished for outdoor exposure, this feeder was made to withstand rain and seasonal weather. The sealed top keeps moisture out of the seed chamber, while the metal body resists corrosion and looks clean over time. Regular cleaning and proper hanging height will extend its service life.

• Rust-proof metal body built for outdoor use
• Sealed top prevents rain entry and seed spoilage
• Recommended hanging and cleaning extend durability
