Unidanho Flame Tamer heat deflector for Pit Boss pellet grills — 13x11in steel flame baffle, reduces hotspots & flare-ups

The Unidanho Flame Tamer is a heavy-duty steel heat deflector designed to replace Pit Boss flame baffles and create a more even cooking surface on compatible Pit Boss pellet grills.

If your Pit Boss pellet grill produces hot spots or uneven searing, the right heat baffle can make a big difference. The Unidanho Flame Tamer (heat deflector/diffuser) is made from thick solid steel and shaped to spread and soften direct flame and radiant heat. It fits a wide range of Pit Boss models — from various 820 and 850 series units up to larger Pro and Rancher lineups — but does require checking dimensions and clearance before purchase.

Which Pit Boss models will this Unidanho heat baffle fit?

The Unidanho plate is compatible with many Pit Boss pellet grills, especially 820 and 850 series variants and several Pro, Traditions, Austin, Rancher, and Sportsman models. It is sized to replace the original baffle in full-size units, though smaller grills under roughly 600 sq. in. of cooking area may not accommodate it.

• Fits: 820 Classic, 820 Deluxe (820D3), 820FB/820FBC, PB820CS1, PB820FB1
• Also fits: PB850CS1, 850PS2, 820PS1, 850G, Traditions, Austin XL, Onyx Edition, Rancher XL, Sportsman 1000, Charleston 1020
• Dimensions: 13" L x 11" W x 4" H — measure your existing part before ordering

How does this flame tamer improve grilling performance?

This heat diffuser converts concentrated flame and radiant hotspots into broader, gentler heat across the cooking area. The result is more consistent cooking temperatures, fewer burnt spots, and improved low-and-slow smoking capability without major modifications to your grill.

• Diffuses direct flame to reduce flare-ups and scorched spots
• Promotes steady temperature distribution for even searing and smoking
• Heavy-gauge steel resists warping under high heat for longer life

What material, size, and durability features should you expect?

The Unidanho Flame Tamer is constructed from solid heavy-duty steel built to withstand repeated heating cycles. Its flat-top design is slightly modified to optimize heat spread across the burner area while maintaining clearance for pellet-fired flame paths.

• Material: heavy-duty solid steel for rigidity and heat resistance
• Size/shape: 13" x 11" with 4" height — check grill cavity height before purchasing
• Longevity: thicker steel lowers warp risk compared with thin stamped plates

How do I install and position the Unidanho heat diffuser for best results?

Installation is generally straightforward: remove the old baffle and place the Unidanho plate in the same location. Some Pit Boss models have a steep Flame Broiler angle or unique bracket geometry, so minor adjustments in position may be necessary to eliminate gaps or optimize airflow.

• Remove the existing deflector and compare measurements to confirm fit
• Place the Unidanho plate flat over the burner area; shift slightly if needed to balance heat
• Test with a heat probe and adjust placement to reduce hotspots and flare-ups

Who this is for: Grill owners who use Pit Boss pellet grills and want a durable replacement baffle to tame flames, improve heat consistency, and extend the useful life of their grill setup. The Unidanho Flame Tamer is best for full-size Pit Boss models and for anyone comfortable checking part dimensions and making minor position adjustments to dial in even cooking results.
