SUNPOW Metal Detector Shovel 12-inch Double-Serrated — Heat-Treated Manganese Steel, Depth Gauge & Sheath

The SUNPOW Metal Detector Shovel is a compact, heavy-duty 12-inch digging tool with double-serrated edges, a depth gauge, and a rugged sheath built for relic hunters and outdoor excavations.

Designed specifically for metal detectorists and outdoor explorers, the SUNPOW digging shovel combines a saw-like serrated edge with a curved scoop blade to cut roots, pry packed clay, and recover finds with minimal ground disturbance. Heat-treated manganese steel and a welded handle-to-blade joint make this tool both lightweight and exceptionally durable for demanding terrain. The integrated inch/cm depth markings and a belt-ready ballistic nylon sheath add practical convenience for long days in the field.

How does this shovel perform in compacted soil and roots?

The double-serrated edge acts like a saw while the semi-open curved blade functions as a scoop, letting you slice through roots and pry up hard-packed earth efficiently. The blade geometry is optimized for plug digging so you remove minimal soil and leave clean holes for restoration.

• Heat-treated manganese steel resists bending under pressure.
• Serrated edge cuts roots and fibrous material.
• Curved scoop shape extracts soil plugs cleanly.
• Fully welded handle-to-blade connection for consistent leverage.

Will this fit comfortably in my detecting kit and carry system?

At just 12 inches long and lightweight, the SUNPOW shovel tucks into side pockets, small backpacks, and detecting bags without adding bulk. The included 1680D ballistic nylon sheath features a belt loop and hook-and-loop closure so you can carry it on your hip for quick deployment.

• 12-inch total length for compact storage and transport.
• Sheath with moisture-resistant lining protects the blade.
• Belt loop and secure closure keep it accessible on the move.
• Low weight reduces fatigue during long searches.

How precise is the shovel when recovering finds at specific depths?

Laser-etched inch and centimeter markings on the blade let you verify hole depth instantly, so you can document find context or confirm you’ve reached target depth. Those measurements help preserve archaeological context and ensure consistent, regulated digging where depth matters.

• Dual inch/cm depth gauge for accurate readings in the field.
• Laser etching resists wear, staying legible over time.
• Depth markings aid organized recovery and reporting.
• Useful when working in layered soils or regulated sites.

How durable is the construction and what warranty does it include?

Built from thickened, heat-treated manganese steel and finished with a fully welded joint, the shovel is engineered to withstand prying, levering, and repeated use in rocky ground. SUNPOW inspects every tool and backs it with a lifetime warranty and 24/7 customer support for peace of mind on remote trips.

• Thickened manganese steel for bending resistance and longevity.
• Welded handle-to-blade connection for maximum strength.
• Rust-resistant coatings and sheath for corrosion protection.
• Lifetime warranty and responsive customer service included.
