Pool Mate pH Up for Swimming Pools — 5 lb Sodium Carbonate, Fast-Acting pH Booster

Keeping pool water in the target pH window protects surfaces, improves sanitizer performance, and delivers more comfortable swimming. This 5-pound container of Pool Mate pH Up is a concentrated, fast-acting alkalinity booster intended for routine pH corrections. Follow test results and label instructions for safe, effective use; never add product directly to the pool without pre-dissolving.

How do I use Pool Mate pH Up safely and effectively?

Test the pool water first; if pH is 7.2 or below, pre-dissolve the measured amount in a plastic pail of water. With the circulation system running, slowly pour the dissolved solution around the pool perimeter and run the pump for at least one hour before retesting.

• Measure pH with a reliable test kit before adding product.
• Pre-dissolve recommended dosage in a plastic bucket, not metal.
• Pour slowly around the pool while the pump circulates water.
• Wait one hour, then retest; repeat if pH remains low until 7.4–7.6.

What are the practical benefits of using sodium carbonate pH Up?

Raising pH helps reduce corrosion and surface etching while optimizing sanitizer efficiency and swimmer comfort. Pool Mate sodium carbonate works quickly to correct acidic water without adding excessive calcium or other minerals.

• Helps prevent metal corrosion and finish deterioration.
• Supports chlorine by keeping it within its effective pH range.
• Improves swimmer comfort by reducing eye and skin irritation.

How much should I add and how often should I test?

Dosage depends on pool volume and current pH; start with the included label chart and adjust gradually. Test pH after each treatment and as part of your regular pool maintenance schedule—at least weekly during heavy use or warm weather.

• Use the product chart to calculate amounts for your pool size.
• Add in stages, retesting after each application to avoid overshooting pH.
• Test weekly and after heavy rain, high bather load, or chemical shocks.

Can I combine this product with other pool chemicals right away?

Do not mix chemicals directly; always add chemicals separately and allow circulation time between additions. After using Pool Mate pH Up, wait and retest pH before adding chlorine or other treatments to ensure balanced water chemistry.

• Never mix dry chemicals together; pre-dissolve individually when required.
• Allow at least one hour of circulation and then retest before further additions.
• Follow label guidance for sequencing with algaecides, clarifiers, and sanitizers.
