Marde Ross & Company Violetta Blush Poppy Seeds — 1600-count mauve annual poppies with black centers, tall 24–36in stems

Marde Ross & Company's 1600 Violetta Blush Poppy Seeds produce tall, mauve annual poppies with striking black markings that perform well in borders and cut-flower beds.

These Violetta Blush poppies are an eye-catching annual that bring soft mauve tones and dramatic black centers to summer displays. Supplied as a generous packet of 1600 seeds, they are bred for easy direct sowing and long vase life. Ideal for gardeners who enjoy abundant, architectural blooms, these poppies reach 24–36 inches tall and suit sunny, well-drained sites.

How do I sow and establish Violetta Blush poppy seeds?

Sow these seeds directly where you want them to grow because poppies dislike root disturbance. In mild climates sow in fall for early blooms; in colder areas wait until spring after the last hard frost. Keep soil surface contact and light exposure—poppy seeds need light to germinate.

• Sow on soil surface or lightly rake in; do not bury deeply.
• Space thinly or broadcast for drifts; thin seedlings to allow 6–12" between plants.
• Choose full sun and poor-to-moderate, well-draining soil.
• No transplanting: direct sow for best results.

What growing conditions give the best bloom and longevity?

Violetta Blush thrives in sunshine and leaner soils where competition is minimal. Excess fertility or rich soil can encourage foliage over flowers; drier, well-drained conditions help flowers last longer both in the garden and as cut stems.

• Full sun exposure for strongest flowering.
• Poor to moderate, free-draining soils preferred.
• Avoid heavy fertilizer—moderate stress improves bloom set.
• Deadhead spent blooms to extend flowering period.

How do these seeds perform for cutting and design use?

With stems that reach two to three feet, Violetta Blush poppies are excellent for tall arrangements or mixed borders where height and color contrast are needed. Their long-lasting nature in vases makes them a practical choice for floral designers and home arrangers seeking mauve tones with dramatic black centers.

• Stems 24–36" yield strong vertical interest for bouquets.
• Flowers retain shape and color in a vase longer than many poppies.
• Pairs well with grasses, peonies, and late-spring bulbs for contrast.
• Ideal for cut-flower beds and massed garden plantings.
