Marde Ross & Company Prince of Orange Oriental Perennial Poppy Seeds — 2,500 Count, Vibrant Orange Blooms & Drought-Tolerant

Prince of Orange Oriental Perennial Poppy seeds produce tall, vibrant orange blooms that return year after year in well-drained sunny sites.

These seeds offer gardeners a reliable way to introduce large, papery-petaled Oriental poppies with rich orange tones into borders, slopes, or coastal gardens. Packaged by Marde Ross & Company, a licensed California nursery since 1985, this 2,500‑seed quantity suits landscapers, hobbyists, or anyone restoring pollinator-friendly plantings. Oriental poppies thrive in rocky or sloping soils and bring bold seasonal color with striking seed-head texture once blooms fade.

How should I sow Prince of Orange Oriental Perennial Poppy seeds for best results?

Sow seeds on the soil surface or barely covered because these poppy seeds need light to germinate. Planting in fall or early spring in a well‑drained, sunny spot gives seedlings the cold exposure they require; thin to proper spacing once established.

• Sow thinly on surface or cover with 1–2 mm fine soil
• Choose full sun and free‑draining soil; avoid heavy clay
• Plant in fall or early spring for natural stratification
• Thin seedlings to 12–18 inches apart when large enough

What growing conditions do these Oriental poppies prefer?

Prince of Orange poppies favor sunny exposures and soils that dry between waterings. They are well suited to rocky slopes, hillsides, vineyards, and seaside locations where other perennials might struggle due to drainage or salt tolerance.

• Full sun for strongest flowering
• Excellent performance in rocky or sandy soils
• Tolerates coastal conditions and sloped sites
• Requires good drainage; minimal supplemental watering after established

When will I see blooms and what do they look like?

Expect large, papery single blooms in late spring to early summer depending on climate. Flowers present rich orange petals with a dramatic central contrast and later form ornamental seed heads that extend garden interest into the summer.

• Flowering typically in late spring to early summer
• Large, showy orange petals with textured seed pods afterward
• Attracts pollinators when in bloom
• Perennial habit returns seasonally from established crowns

This 2,500‑seed pack is ideal for landscapers restoring large areas, pollinator‑habitat projects, botanical gardens, and avid home gardeners who want a dependable source of Oriental poppies for slopes, seaside borders, or mixed perennial beds.
