Little Giant APCP-1700 Automatic Pool Cover Pump 1/3 HP — 1745 GPH, 25' Cord, Auto Float

The Little Giant APCP-1700 is an automatic submersible pump that clears standing water from pool covers, boat covers and rooftops, turning inches of rain into fast, controlled drainage.

Left unchecked, pooled water on covers adds heavy strain and can tear fabrics or damage structure. The APCP-1700 combines a 1/3 HP PSC motor, integrated float switch and a compact weighted base to start at about 2" of water and shut off near 1", protecting covers while minimizing manual monitoring. It connects easily to a standard garden hose or 1" piping for higher rainfall events and includes a 25' power cord for flexible placement.

How does the APCP-1700 prevent damage to covers and rooftops?

The pump automatically senses water depth with its float switch, starting when water reaches roughly 2" and stopping at about 1", preventing excessive pooling and the extra weight that causes ripping or sagging. Its steady flow capacity reduces time water remains on the surface.

• Auto start at ~2" and shut-off at ~1" for hands-free protection
• 1745 GPH performance at 1-ft lift speeds water removal
• Weighted, low-profile base keeps the pump stable on covers
• Compatible with garden hose or 1" piping for discharge flexibility

What are the setup and connection options?

Out of the box the APCP-1700 connects to a 3/4" garden hose with the included adapter for quick deployment; it also has a 1" FNPT discharge for direct pipe connections when you need more robust drainage. The long 25' power cord and built-in handle simplify positioning and removal.

• Includes 3/4" garden hose adapter for standard hoses
• 1" FNPT discharge supports 1" piping for heavy-rain zones
• 25' cord provides reach to distant outlets without extension cords
• Built-in handle for easy transport and placement

How should I maintain and winterize the pump?

Routine cleaning and basic winter care extend the pump’s life: remove and rinse the intake screen yearly and store the unit indoors when temperatures drop below 32°F to prevent hose freezing and motor strain. If airlock occurs, the removable intake screen makes troubleshooting straightforward.

• Remove intake screen for cleaning and airlock relief
• Store indoors below 32°F to avoid frozen-hose damage
• Refer to owner’s manual or video for airlock troubleshooting
• Annual inspection keeps seals and fittings reliable

How powerful is the pump and what are the specs?

The APCP-1700 uses a 1/3 HP permanent-split capacitor motor producing up to 1745 GPH at a 1-foot lift and is rated for typical household electrical supply. Compact dimensions and about 13 lb weight make it portable yet capable for frequent rain events.

• 115 V, 60 Hz, 2.2 A, 270 W, 1/3 HP motor
• 1700–1745 GPH depending on lift; 21.5' shutoff head
• Dimensions: 12" x 12" x 8.25", approx. 13 lb
• Integrated float switch activates at ~2" of water

Who is this for? The Little Giant APCP-1700 is aimed at pool and boat owners, homeowners with covered patios or flat rooftops, and property managers in regions prone to frequent showers or storms. If you need an automatic, portable pump to remove collected water quickly and reliably without complex plumbing, this model offers a balance of performance, ease of use and straightforward maintenance.
