Jiffy Seed Starting Tray Kit — 36-Cell Germination Trays, 2-Pack (72 Peat Pellets) with Clear Humidity Dome

The Jiffy Seed Starting Tray Kit is a complete indoor germination system that includes 36 peat pellets, a reusable plastic tray, and a clear humidity dome — supplied as a two-pack for 72 starters.

Whether you’re planning a spring vegetable patch or want a year-round herb station, this compact kit gives seeds a warm, moist microclimate to sprout. The peat pellets expand when watered to form uniform planting cells, while the clear dome traps humidity and helps maintain stable conditions. Sized to fit windowsills and shelves, the tray is reusable and suitable for a wide range of seeds and young plants.

How does the kit make seed germination easier?

The kit simplifies early-stage growing by combining pellet media, a molded tray and a humidity dome so you have everything needed to start seeds indoors. Peat pellets expand into consistent soil cells that reduce transplant shock, and the dome keeps moisture from evaporating too quickly.

• 36 preformed peat pellets per tray for uniform rooting
• Water-activated expansion; no loose potting mix required
• Clear dome preserves humidity and reduces daily watering
• Reusable rigid tray stabilizes pellets during germination

What seeds can I start in the 36-cell trays?

These trays handle a wide assortment of vegetables, herbs and flowers. Use smaller cells for basil, lettuce or zinnias and start larger seedlings like tomatoes and peppers with one seed per pellet to allow room for root development.

• Vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, lettuces, broccoli
• Herbs: basil, cilantro, parsley
• Flowers: marigolds, zinnias, cosmos
• Easy rotation: two trays let you stagger plantings or run parallel crops

How should I set up and maintain the tray for best results?

Place the tray on a bright windowsill or under grow lights, expand pellets with warm water, and cover with the dome until seedlings emerge. Remove the dome once true leaves appear and increase ventilation; water from the tray base or lightly top-dress as needed to avoid overwatering.

• Expand pellets in warm water until fully saturated
• Keep dome closed until cotyledons open, then gradually vent
• Use grow lights if natural light is insufficient
• Transplant when roots reach pellet edges or seedlings have two true leaves

How compact is the kit and where can I place it?

The finished germination unit measures approximately 11 in x 11 in x 4.25 in, making it an ideal compact greenhouse for limited spaces. It fits on most windowsills, shelving units, or small indoor benches, and two trays let you run multiple sowing schedules without crowding.

• 11" x 11" footprint fits typical indoor shelving and sills
• 4.25" height keeps dome close to seedlings for warmth
• Two-tray set supports staggered plantings or backups
• Lightweight for easy repositioning as sun angles change

Who is this for: The Jiffy Seed Starting Tray Kit is made for home gardeners, apartment growers and hobbyists who want a tidy, all-in-one solution for starting seeds indoors. It’s especially useful for beginners who prefer a low-fuss setup and experienced growers who like to run multiple sowing cycles; the reusable tray and simple water-activated pellets speed setup and reduce mess while giving young plants consistent conditions to take root.
