HTH Alkalinity Up pool treatment granular, 5 lb — raises and stabilizes total alkalinity for balanced pH

HTH Alkalinity Up is a granular chemical formulated to safely raise and stabilize total alkalinity in swimming pools. Keeping pool water balanced prevents rapid pH swings, reduces corrosion or scaling risk, and helps sanitizers work predictably; HTH Alkalinity Up supplies a concentrated alkalinity increaser designed for all pool types so you can maintain target levels. This product is simple to dose, compatible with common pool systems, and pairs well with routine testing to preserve pool equipment and surfaces.

How quickly will HTH Alkalinity Up change my pool's total alkalinity?

Results depend on pool volume and starting alkalinity, but the granular formula dissolves and begins adjusting total alkalinity within hours after application when distributed properly. For measurable adjustments, retest after a full circulation cycle to see the new reading and avoid overcorrection.

• Use test strips or a liquid kit before treatment to know your baseline.
• Dissolve granules in a bucket of water for even distribution if directed by label instructions.
• Run the pump for several hours and retest after 4–24 hours for accurate results.

How much should I add to reach the recommended 60–120 ppm range?

Dosing varies with pool size and current alkalinity; follow the product label for precise amounts per 10,000 gallons or consult HTH dosing charts. Small, incremental additions with retesting reduce the risk of overshooting your target and keep pH stable.

• Calculate pool volume first (length × width × average depth formula for rectangular pools).
• Add in stages: partial dosage, circulate, then retest before further additions.
• Maintain alkalinity between 60–120 ppm for best pH buffering and sanitizer performance.

Will this product harm pool surfaces, equipment, or popular sanitizers?

When used according to directions, HTH Alkalinity Up is compatible with common pool surfaces and equipment and is meant to protect against the effects of low alkalinity, such as corrosion or scale. Proper dilution and avoiding direct contact with sensitive finishes prevents local concentration damage.

• Always pre-dissolve if label recommends and never add granules directly onto pool surfaces.
• Keep pump and circulation running during and after application to disperse product evenly.
• Regular maintenance helps prolong life of pumps, filters, heaters, and liner materials.

How does regular testing fit into using HTH Alkalinity Up?

Routine testing is essential: total alkalinity influences how stable your pH will be, so check weekly with test strips or kits and adjust as needed. Pairing HTH Alkalinity Up with HTH 6-Way Test Strips gives clear targets and helps you maintain consistent water chemistry.

• Test weekly, or more often after heavy use, rain, or chemical additions.
• Keep records of readings to track trends and minimize large corrections.
• Target range: 60–120 ppm total alkalinity for most residential pools.

Who is this for: Pool owners, caretakers, and service professionals who need a reliable, concentrated product to raise and stabilize total alkalinity. HTH Alkalinity Up is suited for above-ground and in-ground pools, vinyl-lined and plaster finishes, and anyone who tests regularly and wants to protect surfaces and equipment by maintaining balanced water chemistry.
