HD Switch 2-Pack Outer Tie Rod Ends 3/8-24 RH Thread for Cub Cadet/MTD — 4130 Steel, Reinforced Crimp

These HD Switch 2-pack ball joint tie rods are heavy-duty replacement outer tie rod ends with 3/8-24 right-hand threads, built from 4130 steel and a reinforced crimp for longer-lasting steering on compatible Cub Cadet and MTD lawn tractors.

When steering parts wear out, your mower’s handling and safety suffer. This pair of tie rod ends is designed to match the thread and fitment used on many Cub Cadet and MTD models while improving durability through stronger materials and a reinforced crimped construction. The zinc yellow finish helps resist corrosion so parts last through seasons of outdoor use.

Which mower models and thread sizes does this fit?

These tie rods are made with 3/8-24 right-hand threaded studs and sized to replace many factory outer tie rod ends on Cub Cadet and MTD tractors listed by OEM part references. Confirm thread pitch, right-hand orientation, and part compatibility for your specific model before purchase.

• Fits many Cub Cadet/MTD models such as LT2042, LT2138, LT2180, 2146, 2150, 2155, 2160, 2164, 2165, 2166, 2176, 2518, 2130, 2135, 2140.
• Thread: 3/8-24 RH — verify against your existing tie rod stud.
• Sold as a 2-pack to replace both sides or keep a spare on hand.

How is the HD Switch design more durable than stock parts?

HD Switch uses 4130 alloy steel for the stud and body, a higher-strength material than typical mild steel rod ends. The crimped collar where the stud meets the body is engineered to distribute load and resist shear, and the company reports this crimp construction is significantly stronger than common aftermarket designs.

• 4130 steel provides improved wear and fatigue resistance over standard steels.
• Reinforced crimp profile reduces failure at the stud joint under steering loads.
• Zinc yellow coating deters rust and preserves thread and ball surfaces outdoors.

What should I expect during installation and maintenance?

Installation is straightforward if you have basic mechanic tools: match thread size, remove the old tie rod end, thread on the replacement, torque to OEM specs, and secure any locking hardware. Minimal maintenance is required beyond occasional inspection and lubrication if your model uses a grease fitting.

• Requires standard wrenches and possibly a tie rod separator or pickle fork for removal.
• Check and follow your tractor’s torque and alignment recommendations after replacement.
• Inspect boots and threads periodically; reapply grease if a zerk fitting is present.

Who this is for: This pair is intended for do-it-yourself lawn tractor owners, small engine repair shops, and fleet maintainers who need a robust OEM-fit replacement for worn tie rod ends on Cub Cadet and compatible MTD models. Choose these HD Switch tie rod ends if you want stronger steel, a reinforced crimp joint, and corrosion-resistant coating compared with many economy replacements. Always verify thread pitch and model compatibility before ordering to ensure a correct fit and safe steering performance.
