GS Plant Foods Soft Soil Liquid Aerator Concentrate 1 Quart — Breaks Up Compacted Soil, Improves Drainage

If your lawn suffers from hard, compacted soil, slow drainage, or standing water, Soft Soil offers a simple liquid alternative to spike or core aeration. This 1 quart concentrate is formulated to break up compacted layers, improve water infiltration, and enhance nutrient uptake for any grass type across seasons. Apply it with a pump sprayer or hose-end applicator to treat problem zones quickly and safely around kids and pets.

How does Soft Soil improve compacted lawns?

Soft Soil works by chemically loosening the bonds between soil particles, allowing air and moisture to move downward into the root zone instead of running off the surface. Over several applications roots expand into the newly aerated soil, supporting thicker, greener turf.

• Breaks apart compacted soil structure so roots access oxygen and water
• Reduces surface runoff and improves drainage in low-lying areas
• Boosts nutrient movement to the root zone for better uptake

How do I apply this liquid aerator and what coverage can I expect?

Mixing and application are straightforward: combine 4 ounces of Soft Soil concentrate with one gallon of water. One gallon of the prepared spray covers approximately 500 sq ft; larger lawns are easiest with a hose-end sprayer or backpack sprayer for even distribution.

• Mix ratio: 4 oz concentrate per 1 gallon water
• Coverage: ~500 sq ft per gallon of mix
• Any standard garden sprayer works; hose-end or professional sprayer speeds large jobs

Is Soft Soil safe for my lawn, family and pets?

Soft Soil uses an organic-based formula designed for safe use on all grass types and around people and pets when applied according to directions. It’s non-mechanical and gentle on turf while still delivering measurable improvements to soil permeability.

• Formulated for all turf varieties, including new seed, sod and plugs
• Organic-friendly ingredients and user-safe handling instructions
• Non-invasive application—no core removal or heavy equipment needed

When will I see results and can it replace traditional aeration?

Visible improvements in drainage and grass vigor often appear after a few treatments as roots expand into the loosened soil. Soft Soil is ideal for problem areas and regular maintenance, and it can reduce the need for frequent mechanical aeration, though core aeration may still be useful for extremely compacted or clay-heavy soils.

• Noticeable drainage and greening within several applications
• Great for routine maintenance and spot treatment of compacted zones
• Combine with mechanical aeration for the most severe compaction if desired
