Grow Queen Craft Aroid Potting Mix — 8QT Chunky Peat-Free Soil for Alocasia, Monstera & Tropical Houseplants, Fast Drainage

Grow Queen Craft Aroid Potting Mix is a chunky, peat-free organic soil blend formulated to give aroids and other tropical houseplants fast drainage, good aeration, and a stable, plant-friendly pH.

This ready-to-use 8QT mix combines high-grade organic coco coir, volcanic rock components, tree fern fiber, and coarse bark to recreate the airy, well-draining medium that aroids and many tropicals prefer. Blended to support beneficial microbes and enriched with organic material, the mix is pet-friendly and designed to be compatible with liquid and granular plant feeds.

How does this mix prevent overwatering and root problems?

The formula emphasizes large particles and volcanic aggregates that keep water moving through the root zone while holding pockets of air. That balance reduces prolonged saturation and helps roots breathe, so plants are less likely to develop rot from soggy soil.

• Large Douglas fir bark fines create chunky voids for airflow.
• Pumice and lava rock improve drainage without energy-intensive processing.
• Coarse coco coir retains moisture without compacting.

What makes this mix eco-friendly and peat-free?

Instead of peat and perlite, this blend uses sustainable alternatives chosen to lower environmental impact. Ingredients are selected for minimal processing and long-term soil health while maintaining the texture tropical plants need.

• Certified organic coco coir washed for low salts and high cleanliness.
• Pumice and lava rock replace perlite, requiring no heating or chemical processing.
• Peat-free recipe reduces carbon and habitat loss associated with peat harvesting.

Will it work with my existing fertilizers and plant food?

Yes — the mix is microbe-friendly and nutrient-ready, so it pairs well with organic plant foods or standard houseplant fertilizers. It provides a living substrate that helps nutrients become available to roots without pre-loading excessive soluble salts.

• Contains organic matter and worm castings to support beneficial microbes.
• Neutral pH buffering from tree fern fiber helps stable nutrient uptake.
• Designed for compatibility with liquid feeds and slow-release fertilizers.

How should I use this potting mix for repotting or planting new aroids?

Use it straight from the bag for transplanting or top-dressing — no pre-mixing required. Choose a pot with drainage, gently loosen old root masses, and fill gaps with the chunky mix for instant airflow and drainage improvement.

• Use for repotting Monsteras, Alocasias, Anthuriums, Hoyas and other tropicals.
• Fill around roots to eliminate air pockets and ensure stable positioning.
• Pair with a pot that has drainage holes and avoid compacting the mix.
