Doter Organic Perlite for Plants — 2 Quart Bag, Lightweight Sterile Soil Amendment for Better Drainage and Aeration

Doter Organic Perlite is a sterile, lightweight volcanic substrate that boosts potting mixes by improving drainage, aeration, and root health.

Fine, clean perlite granules are a simple addition for gardeners who want to reduce waterlogging, prevent soil compaction, and keep container-grown plants thriving. This 2-quart bag of Doter perlite mixes easily into potting soil, seed-starting blends, or cactus and succulent media without adding weight or organic matter that breaks down over time.

How does Doter perlite improve drainage for potted plants?

Perlite creates stable air pockets in the soil, allowing excess water to escape while keeping roots oxygenated. That reduces root rot risk and helps water move through the mix more evenly, especially in deep pots or dense substrates.

• Granular structure channels excess water away from root zones
• Prevents pooling in nursery pots and saucers
• Compatible with indoor and outdoor containers

Will perlite help prevent soil compaction and improve aeration?

Yes — Doter perlite's porous particles maintain a loose soil structure that resists settling. Over time it keeps the potting medium light so roots can expand and take up oxygen and nutrients more efficiently.

• Porosity maintains long-term soil loft
• Reduces need for frequent repotting due to compaction
• Works well mixed with compost, coco coir, or peat-free blends

How much perlite should I add to my potting mix?

Typical mixes use 10–50% perlite depending on plant type: lower amounts for general houseplants, higher ratios for succulents and cuttings. Start with a conservative mix and adjust based on drainage tests and plant response.

• 10–20% for most indoor foliage plants
• 30–50% for succulents, cacti, and fast-draining mixes
• Use higher ratios when propagating cuttings to improve rooting success

Is Doter perlite lightweight and long-lasting?

Doter perlite is a mineral product that remains stable and does not decompose, so it won’t add weight or break down like organic additives. That means amended potting soil keeps its improved structure season after season.

• Lightweight for easier pot handling and hanging baskets
• Non-biodegradable, so it maintains performance over time
• Sterile and free from pests or weed seeds

Who is this for: Doter Organic Perlite is ideal for home gardeners, indoor plant enthusiasts, succulent and cactus growers, and professional nurseries that need a reliable, sterile soil amendment.
