DEWALT 20V MAX Cordless 12" Chainsaw (Tool Only) – Brushless Motor, Lightweight 12-inch Bar

The DEWALT 20V MAX 12 in. Cordless Battery Powered Chainsaw (Tool Only) is a gas-free, brushless-motor cutting tool designed for construction and property work that delivers portable cutting power without the hassles of gas maintenance.

Compact and purpose-built, this 12-inch cordless chainsaw trades fuel and tune-ups for battery convenience and reduced upkeep. It’s engineered to perform in demolition, framing cuts, pruning, and general property maintenance while keeping weight and routine mechanical care to a minimum. The brushless motor improves energy use and component life compared with brushed designs, and the tool-only format lets you pair it with compatible DEWALT 20V MAX batteries you already own.

How does this chainsaw replace a gas saw on job sites?

For many site tasks, this cordless model delivers comparable cutting without gasoline, carburetor tuning, or exhaust. It starts instantly with a trigger instead of a pull cord and reduces on-site fumes and spill concerns, simplifying transport and storage logistics.

• Instant electronic start—no choke or priming needed
• Zero gasoline storage or mixing required
• Cleaner operation—no exhaust fumes at the cut site
• Lower short-term maintenance: no carburetor or spark plug care

What sort of cutting tasks is the 12" bar suited for?

The 12-inch bar is sized for light to medium tasks: cutting beams, resizing lumber, removing small trees and limbs, and demolition where maneuverability matters. It balances reach with control, letting you work in tighter spaces where a larger chainsaw would be cumbersome.

• Cross-cutting lumber and dimensional beams
• Trimming and removing branches and small trunks
• Controlled demolition where precision is needed
• Quick property cleanup and storm debris removal

How does the brushless motor benefit runtime and durability?

Brushless motors operate with fewer friction parts than brushed motors, which improves electrical efficiency and reduces wear. That means longer runtime per battery charge, cooler operation under load, and a longer-lasting motor core when used under normal conditions.

• Improved energy transfer for longer cuts per battery
• Reduced internal wear extends motor service life
• Smoother power delivery during steady cuts
• Less frequent maintenance compared with brushed motors

What design features help control and safety?

The saw’s lightweight layout and compact bar increase maneuverability, helping you maintain control during repetitive or overhead tasks. It includes standard chainsaw safety elements to support responsible operation when paired with proper PPE and cutting technique.

• Compact 12" bar improves balance and handling
• Ergonomic housing positioned for two-handed control
• Battery-powered cutoff reduces vibration and immediate noise
• Tool-only format supports adding DEWALT battery tech like fuel gauges

Who this is for: This chainsaw is aimed at contractors, carpenters, landscapers, and homeowners who need a portable, low-maintenance cutting tool for light-to-medium demands. Choose this model if you already use DEWALT 20V MAX batteries or want a compact saw for tighter spaces, quick jobsite cuts, demolition touch-ups, and routine tree/branch work without the complexity of gas engines.
