Burpee Windowsill Seed Starting Tray — 8 XL Cell Silicone, Reusable & Dishwasher-Safe for Indoor Seed Starting

The Burpee SuperSeed Windowsill Seed Starting Tray is an 8 extra-large cell silicone starter kit designed to simplify indoor seed germination and transplanting. Whether you're launching tomato seedlings on a sunny sill or nursing herbs through cool spring nights, this compact tray brings professional seed-starting features to a small-space gardener. The flexible food-grade silicone cells reduce root disturbance at transplant, while an engineered watering tray manages runoff and keeps mess contained. Built-in labeling and a Plant-o-Gram layout help you track varieties through the earliest growth stages.

How will this tray improve my seed starting success?

The SuperSeed tray combines drainage, aeration and flexible cells to create a healthier root environment from day one. Molded corner drainage slots prevent waterlogging and promote oxygen exchange in the root zone, while the deep watering channels carry excess moisture away so roots don’t sit in standing water.

• Extra-large cells allow deeper root development for tomatoes, peppers and eggplants.
• Corner slots increase soil aeration and reduce risk of damping-off from overwatering.
• Raised perimeter and deep channels minimize spills and simplify bottom-watering routines.

How easy is transplanting with silicone pop-out cells?

Transplanting is faster and gentler because the flexible silicone cradles seedlings and lets you remove each plug without tugging roots. That softer handling reduces shock and helps young plants establish in their final pots or garden beds more quickly.

• Soft food-grade silicone bends to release seedlings intact.
• Extra depth supports long taproots for vegetable starts.
• Rows labeled alphanumerically match the included Plant-o-Gram for easy tracking.

What makes watering and drainage simpler with this tray?

The tray’s form is engineered to separate excess water from the cell area while keeping the surface tidy. Deep channels draw away runoff and a raised lip contains water, so you get controlled moisture without constant cleanup.

• Deep collector channels funnel excess water away from cells.
• Raised edge prevents spills and keeps your windowsill clean.
• Side handles let you lift and pour off excess water safely and easily.

Can I reuse and clean this tray season after season?

Yes — the materials are durable and top-shelf dishwasher safe, so the tray can be cleaned and stored for next season. Proper cleaning between cycles helps prevent disease carryover and keeps your seedlings healthier year after year.

• Food-grade silicone cells resist staining and flex for easy cleaning.
• Rigid tray holds shape and drains efficiently after washing.
• Dishwasher-safe top shelf for convenient cleanup before storage.

Who is this for? This tray is ideal for gardeners who want a compact, mess-minimizing system for starting vegetables, herbs and ornamental seedlings indoors. It's especially helpful for windowsill growers, balcony gardeners, and anyone who needs deeper cells for long-rooted starts like tomatoes and peppers. Novices will appreciate the labeled rows and Plant-o-Gram, while experienced gardeners will value the reusable silicone design and improved transplant survival.
