besgrow Premium New Zealand Sphagnum Moss 150g (12L Hydrated) — AAA Grade 150mm Strands, High Water Retention

besgrow Premium New Zealand Sphagnum Moss is a hand‑harvested, chemical‑free sphagnum product with long 150mm strands that absorb and retain moisture—150g dries to 12L when fully hydrated.

This premium AAA grade sphagnum moss is sourced from sustainably managed wetlands on New Zealand’s South Island and air‑dried to preserve fibre length and water‑holding structure. Because it has naturally low soluble salts and minimal foreign material, it’s widely chosen by growers, florists and reptile keepers who need a clean, long‑lasting moisture substrate. The loose 6” strands are easy to use straight from the packet for repotting, lining baskets, mixing into potting mixes or creating humid microenvironments.

How does this sphagnum moss improve moisture for potted plants?

besgrow sphagnum retains up to 20 times its weight in water while remaining airy for root oxygenation. That balance helps roots access steady moisture without waterlogging, making it well suited for orchids, carnivorous plants and young seedlings.

• High water‑holding capacity reduces watering frequency
• Open fibre structure improves drainage and aeration
• Low soluble salts reduce risk of nutrient stress
• Long strands wrap gently around roots for better contact

Is besgrow moss ready to use straight from the bag?

Yes—each pack is hand‑picked, air‑dried and free from chemicals and additives, so it can be used immediately. Rehydrate by soaking briefly for most planting uses, or use dry as a decorative top dressing where gradual water uptake is preferred.

• No chemical sterilisation or additives—safe for sensitive plants
• Simple rehydration: quick soak then drain excess water
• Can be layered, mixed with mixes, or used as lining material
• Light, clean packaging for easy storage and handling

How can reptile keepers and florists make the most of this moss?

Reptile keepers use sphagnum to maintain humidity, create humid hides and support live plantings; florists choose it for water retention in arrangements and wreath bases. The moss’s cleanliness and moisture retention make it a versatile substrate across both hobbies and commercial uses.

• Provides humid microclimates for amphibians and reptiles
• Ideal for lining hanging baskets and orchid pots
• Supports propagation and germination of moisture‑loving species
• Useful as a florist’s moisture cushion for cut stems and displays

Who is this for? Growers, hobbyists and professionals who want a dependable, natural moisture substrate will appreciate besgrow Premium New Zealand Sphagnum Moss. It suits orchid and carnivorous plant enthusiasts, propagation fans, florists seeking longer‑lasting arrangements, and reptile keepers needing a clean, high‑capacity moisture layer. The 150g pack expands to roughly 12 litres when hydrated, providing generous volume for multiple pots, baskets or enclosures—especially where long strand length and low salts are important.
