The system is intended for backpacking, highbanking, and trommel setups where space and weight matter, while still delivering refined separation for small and ultrafine particles.

How does the vortex mat improve gold capture compared to standard mats?

The Vortex mat uses a pattern of mini cyclone-like cells that alter water flow to increase particle settling and retention. Instead of relying on conventional riffle turbulence alone, the mat channels currents into micro-vortices that encourage gold to drop out of suspension and lodge safely.

Engineered cell geometry directs flow for better settling.

Reduces downstream migration of fine gold.

Compatible with 3-stage sluice configurations for staged recovery.

What role do the Micro Mat and Mini Mat play in recovery?

The Micro Mat functions as a finishing layer that holds ultrafine particles, preventing them from being carried off during the run. The Mini Mat acts as a front-row trap to snag smaller and harder-to-catch pieces before they pass deeper into the sluice.

Micro Mat: tight-texture finishing layer for fines and flour gold.

Mini Mat: upstream capture for small nuggets and flakes.

Layering mats shortens the need for long sluices while improving recovery precision.

How portable and versatile is the 6x24 Trek sluice for field use?

The Trek size balances performance and portability—small enough to fit in a backpack yet large enough for meaningful paydirt runs. It adapts to trommels, highbankers, and hand-fed operations and is especially useful for prospectors who hike to remote creeks or set up temporary recovery stations.

Compact 6" x 24" footprint for easy transport and quick deployment.

Works well with screened runs between 1/4" and 3/8" for optimal feed control.

Lightweight construction ideal for multi-day or backcountry outings.

Can this sluice integrate with my existing equipment and methods?

Yes—its staged design and removable mats allow integration into many gold recovery workflows. Whether you run it as a standalone hand sluice, attach it to a highbanker, or place it beneath a trommel, the Dream Mat components are designed to retrofit into common setups and improve overall recovery of fine gold.

Removable mats make cleaning and inspection straightforward.

Fits common 1/4"–3/8" screened feed sizes used in trommels and highbankers.

Stage-based capture strategy complements both recreational and more serious prospecting rigs.

Who is this for? The Dream Mat 6x24 Trek Sluice Box is aimed at weekend prospectors, backpackers, and hobbyists who demand high fine-gold recovery without hauling a full-sized sluice. It suits anyone who values portability—day-trippers to remote creeks, highbanker users wanting a better finishing stage, and trommel operators seeking a compact, efficient downstream sluice. If you want a small, science-driven sluice system that focuses on capturing the fines and finishing your clean-up more effectively, this Trek kit is built for your adventures.

Features include vortex-inspired mat technology, Micro and Mini finishing mats, and a 3-stage sluice layout for staged separation.

Ideal for screened runs of 1/4"–3/8" and for use in backpack prospecting, highbankers, and trommels.

FAQ

Q: What size paydirt is best for the 6x24 Trek sluice?

A: Use screened material around 1/4" to 3/8" for optimal feed control and best fine-gold recovery.

Q: Are the Dream Mat inserts removable for cleaning?

A: Yes, the mats are removable for easy inspection, cleaning, and targeted replacement when needed.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0984/0636/7416/files/dream-mat-assembled-trek-sluice-front-view.jpg?v=1790665743
https://canadianlawn.ca/products/dream-mat-6x24-trek-sluice-box-gold-prospecting-3-stage-vortex-with-micro-mini-mats-lightweight-packable
